Economic Indicators Bulletin for SEE - July 2017

The Southeastern Economies -we follow- are expected to further moderate the significant decrease of their NPLs. That can also be observed in Q1-2017, where in most countries there is an improvement in the quality of the loan portfolios. However, the countries that continue registering particularly high NPLs as a % of total loans are Cyprus and Albania.

  • In Albania, NPLs in Q1-2017 amounted to 21.6% of total loans from 19.3% in Q1-2016.
  • In Bulgaria, NPLs in Q1-2017 amounted to 15.6% of total loans from 17.7% in Q1-2016.
  • In Cyprus, NPLs in Q1-2017 amounted to 45.0% of total loans from 48.4% in Q1-2016.
  • In Romania, NPLs in Q1-2017 amounted to 9.4% of total loans from 13.5% in Q1-2016.
  • In Serbia, NPLs in Q1-2017 amounted to 16.8% of total loans from 20.9% in Q1-2016.
